YPD/Lying Suspect
4/3/18
A 45 year old Hyannis man was arrested early Saturday morning after the vehicle in which he was a passenger was stopped on Route 28 in South Yarmouth for an equipment violation.
The driver, Beth Russell, told police she didn’t have a license with her and when she opened the glove box, police could see several boxes of Suboxone.
The passenger, Michael James, did not have an I.D., but provided a name, date of birth and social security number, all of which proved to be false.
An investigation revealed James’ true name and that he had six arrest warrants from several different courts and 79 prior charges in Massachusetts.
While being processed at YPD Headquarters James was found to be in possession of heroin and a Medicare card belonging to someone else.
The warrants for James included shoplifting 3rd offense, receiving stolen property, subsequent offense, possession of cocaine and receiving a stolen motor vehicle.
He was arraigned in Barnstable District Court.
