Barnstable County Stands Down From Storm Operations

The Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee (BCREPC) reviewed the progress of power restoration on Cape Cod, and the status of the Regional Shelter System, Thursday afternoon.
At that time, significant gains in power restoration had occurred between 10 A.M., when Eversource reported around 27,000 outages and 4 P.M. when the number had declined to around 7,000. The number at 1 A.M. today was down to 26-hundred and the crews were continuing to work through the night to meet their goal of having all homes and businesses back on line by midnight Friday.
The decision was made to close the Regional Emergency Shelters at Sandwich High School, Barnstable Intermediate School, and the Cape Cod Regional Technical High School.
The BCREPC assured people that anyone still in need would be accommodated in alternative shelter settings.
