Police Cruiser Accident On Nantucket

Nantucket/Cruiser vs Car

A Nantucket Police Officer escaped injury Sunday morning when a vehicle pulled away from the stop sign at Sanford Road and Pleasant Street and smashed into his cruiser.

The Inquirer and Mirror reports that 56 year old WC Dwyer Maloney of 12 Flintlock Road, was the operator of the vehicle which had stopped at the intersection and then proceeded into Pleasant Street, directly into the front of the cruiser.

Officer Michael Cook was driving and was transported to Nantucket Cottage Hospital for evaluation and then released.

Maloney will face negligent operation of a motor vehicle and failing to proceed safely charges in Nantucket District Court once he is arraigned.

That date has not been set.
