Fire Truck Donated to Barnstable County
Barnstable County has received a 110 foot aerial ladder truck to be used by the County Fire and Rescue Training Academy.
The Town of Hanover donated the truck after it received a federal grant for a new aerial platform.
The grant came with the stipulation that the old truck could not be resold or given to another fire department as a first-line piece of equipment. It could only be scrapped or donated to an educational institution.
The new truck will replace the academy’s current ladder truck which has a cracked frame.
In receiving the fire engine Wednesday, Barnstable County Commission Chairman Leo Cakounes said the donated vehicle will be able to enhance the training at the fire academy and professional development of the region’s firefighters along with the safety of the community as a whole.
