Eastham PD/Serious Accident

Monday night Eastham Police responded to a report of a single vehicle crash in the area of 24-55 State Highway/Route 6.
In a statement police say a Lexus SUV was traveling south and left the roadway just past the Eastham Superette parking lot.
The vehicle went airborne, struck a utility pole, rolled over and came to rest against a tree.
The male operator of the vehicle was transported by ambulance to Barnstable Municipal Airport, and from there he was transported by a Med Flight Helicopter to a Boston area hospital.
The crash resulted in several power lines, and other utility lines, obstructing the roadway and closing Route 6 for several hours while utilities crews replaced the pole and restored power.
Along with the Eastham Police and Fire Departments, assistance was provided by the Orleans Police and Fire departments, and the Barnstable County Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
The crash is currently under investigation by the Eastham Police.
