A coyote hunting contest hosted by the Powderhorn Outfitters in Hyannis resulted in approximately 70 protesters condemning the event.
People gathered on the sidewalk outside of the business Saturday afternoon with signs of disapproval over the celebration of hunting animals for fun; others congregated in the same spot showing their support for hunters.
Those participating in the competition were seen barbequing in the parking lot while coyote kills were weighed and measured; cash prizes are awarded for largest coyote along with largest cumulative weight.
The competition ends march 12th.
