Barnstable Police responded early Wednesday morning to the Cumberland Farms Convenience Store at 395 West Main St., Hyannis for a report of a male subject shoplifting.
Upon arrival, officers encountered the suspect, 28-year-old Marlon Green of Hyannis, who was inside the men’s room.
Further investigation revealed that Green had allegedly selected several items of merchandise and entered the men’s room where he concealed the items on his person.
When officers attempted to take him into custody, he became actively resistant by physically pulling away from police and failing to comply with verbal commands.
Green was ultimately taken into custody and transported to the Barnstable Police Department where he was booked on charges of shoplifting, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, possession of narcotics, carrying a dangerous weapon, and protective custody.
Green was arraigned in Barnstable District Court and held without bail on a probation violation.
