Nantucket/Sewer Line Okay
1/31/18
Tuesday’s storm brought flooding to streets near the Nantucket Waterfront, but no damage to the sewer line broken in a storm earlier in the month.
The Inquirer and Mirror says the bypass installed after the earlier storm was able to handle the rush of water brought in by the high waves Tuesday.
During the January 4th storm, a downtown force main ruptured, sending more than 3 million gallons of untreated sewage and storm water into Nantucket Harbor before the bypass was installed.
The cleanup of the harbor and nearby streets has been completed and Nantucket officials are reviewing the work to be done to restore the permanent sewer line.
