Eastham Police/Pellet Gun Shooting
2/1/18
Eastham Police responded Tuesday night for a reported assault that had taken place at the Town Crier Motel.
Arriving officers located a victim in the motel parking lot with blood on his face and hands. He told police he had been struck by pellets from a pellet gun at close range and had also been struck with the butt of the weapon.
The victim was taken to Cape Cod Hospital for treatment of what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
Police were able to identify 35 year old Stanley Cannon of Eastham, as the suspect in the incident.
Cannon had returned to his apartment after the altercation and was refusing to answer the door for police. The Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council SWAT Team was requested to assist with taking Cannon into custody due to his extensive criminal record and the possibility that more weapons may have been present within his apartment.
Around midnight, a negotiator was able to convince Cannon to exit his residence peacefully. He was arrested for two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
In Orleans District Court Wednesday, he was ordered held on one thousand dollars cash bail pending a pre-trial hearing on February 28th.
