Tisbury/Increase in Waste Management Fees
The waste management company serving Tisbury asked selectmen this week for an increase in rates.
The Vineyard Gazette reports that Bruno’s Rolloff Waste Management Company requested increases for the disposal of solid waste, construction debris and recyclables.
Company representative Greg Carroll told selectmen the increases are based on price hikes they have experienced at disposal sites on the mainland, plus increases for internal expenses including health care.
Department of Public Works Director Ray Tattersall told the board the town could afford the requested increases.
Selectmen, however, felt they didn’t have all the necessary information to make a decision and asked Bruno’s to break out the waste processing costs and the employee health care increases.
The board will continue the discussion on Tuesday, February 6th.
