YPD now Receives 911 Calls Directly

The Yarmouth Police Department announced Monday they have become one of the few agencies in the commonwealth to have the ability to directly receive and answer emergency 911 wireless telephone calls.

In the past, wireless calls would all go to the Massachusetts State Police in Framingham and then needed to be transferred.

Now, all wireless calls that occur in Yarmouth - except those coming from Route 6 - will come directly to Yarmouth Police Department public safety answering point dispatch center allowing the department to send help quicker, safer, and more efficiently.
