The Massachusetts shotgun deer hunting season officially kicked off Tuesday and Yarmouth Division of Natural Resources crews will be out conducting hunting inspections throughout town over the next few weeks.
DNR officers will have a more visible presence as you may see them inspecting hunters and checking licenses.
Hunting hours are ½ hour before sunrise until ½ hour after sunset; hunting is not allowed on Sundays.
In addition, hunters must be at least 500 feet away from a dwelling and must wear “hunter orange” including a hat.
Yarmouth Police asks that you keep this in mind if you’re using wooded areas or trails for hiking.
