Yarmouth Police arrested a wanted man Tuesday morning, who was also in possession of an illegal firearm.
Barnstable Police officers had developed probable cause for the arrest of Imuru Barbel, of Hyannis, who was wanted for Felony Receiving Stolen Property of $250.
At approximately 9:45 a.m. a vehicle was observed parked in an abandoned lot at the corner of West Yarmouth Road and Route 28.
Another vehicle pulled into the lot, at which point police approached both vehicles; officers observed Barbel attempting to access something in a green backpack.
He was detained and placed under arrest; a subsequent search of the backpack revealed a silver revolver-type handgun.
Barbel was taken to the Yarmouth Police Department for booking, where police say he became disruptive and attempted to destroy his cellphone.
Along with Barnstable PD’s charges, Barbel was charged by Yarmouth Police with Felony Unlawful Carrying and Possession of a Firearm, and Felony Misleading to Obstruct or Delay Justice.
