Accident Causes Live Wires to Come Down in Wareham

Wareham Police responded to an accident Thursday night that resulted in a struck utility pole with live wires coming down.

Officers were notified at about 10:30 p.m. of a single vehicle accident taking place in the area of 48 Great Neck Road.

Police were told a utility pole was damaged with downed wires, and the vehicle was potentially on fire.

Once on scene, officers found the driver outside of his vehicle, who stated he misjudged the corner; police determined the operator was heavily intoxicated.

30-year-old Christopher Corcoran, of Duxbury, was arrested and charged with OUI and Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

He was arraigned Friday in Wareham District Court.
