Wareham Police were involved in a pursuit early Friday morning.
The incident originated in Yarmouth when police alerted Wareham PD to be on the lookout for an unlicensed male operating a red pickup truck possibly heading in their direction after making threats.
Wareham officers located the vehicle traveling along Onset Avenue at approximately 6 a.m. and attempted to stop the vehicle.
The truck refused to stop, and led police on a chase down several side streets; the driver ran into a residential fence on Midway Street and continued to elude officers.
Police broke off the pursuit for safety reasons, but continued to monitor the vehicle’s progress.
Within minutes, the pickup arrived at the Wareham PD headquarters; the driver was placed under arrest after refusing to exit the vehicle for a brief time.
19-year-old Chad Fernandes, of Falmouth, was arrested and charged with Failure to Stop for Police, Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Negligent Operation, Marked Lanes Violations, Speeding, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident Causing Property Damage; he was arraigned in Wareham District Court.
