A three-alarm fire in Provincetown Saturday night spread to multiple businesses.
Provincetown Fire received reports at approximately 6 p.m. of a fire originating at the Red Shack restaurant at 315 Commercial Street.
Upon arrival, firefighters were having difficulties knocking down the flames due to extreme heat and heavy smoke conditions.
A third alarm was quickly sounded, and fire departments across the Cape were requested to aid either at the scene or covering other stations.
The nature of the fire was problematic as the venue in which it started is part of multiple businesses densely packed together; there was also apartment living on the second floor of the buildings.
The nearby Surf Club and Tatiana’s restaurants suffered damage in the fire as a result.
Crews were able to extinguish a majority of the flames by 8 p.m. and continued to fight hot spots throughout the night.
No injuries were reported; the cause of the fire is under investigation.
