A car accident in Dennis Port Saturday left one person dead.
The Dennis Police Department responded to 9-1-1 calls at approximately 4:43 p.m. reporting a crash at 711 Route 28.
Officers arrived on scene and discovered a 2001 Ford truck left the south side of Route 28, struck a utility pole and then hit the Rite Aid store sign.
The driver of the vehicle, a 26 year old male from Harwich, was partially ejected from the driver’s side area of the vehicle; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger, a 36 year old male from Chatham, was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
An initial investigation revealed the vehicle was traveling East on Route 28, left the south side of the roadway, struck the utility pole and then hit the store sign, where it came to rest.
The accident remains under investigation by Dennis Police and members of the Cape Cod Regional Crash Reconstruction Team.
