The Town of Dennis recently held an “Appreciation Day” in which residents participated in a town wide clean-up effort; and it was a tremendous success.
Town officials say more than 100 individuals showed up from various groups including members of the Board of Selectmen, Dennis Conservation Trust, Conservation Commission, Planning Board, Girl Scout groups, Dennis-Harwich Lions and Rotary Clubs, and many concerned citizens.
The DPW provided a crew to haul away trash and by the end of the day a total of 2,600 pounds of garbage plus another 800 pounds of miscellaneous construction debris was disposed of at the transfer station.
With the success of the event, there is already strong interest in making “Dennis Appreciation Day” an annual gathering.
