Truro’s town meeting Tuesday night will have several important budgetary articles for residents to voice their opinions on.
First, the town’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2018 is set at $18.48m, with a permanent override of approximately $465,000.
Specifically, the permanent override would fund a part time internet and communications staff member, lifeguards at Head of the Meadow beach, a new public works vehicle, human service agency grants, a program to aid those suffering from substance abuse, school expenses and youth sports expenses.
Despite the request for the override, the overall budget has dropped one percent from the previous year.
Another article includes funding $3.7m for the design and repair of a culvert located between Route 6 and Cape Cod bay; town officials say the area is unsafe due to damaging sinkholes.
The meeting takes place Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Truro Central School.
