Days after a wrong way driver claimed the life of a Massachusetts State Trooper, the State Senate has passed a bill designed to reduce tragedies.
The bill, sponsored by State Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr passed on a vote of 40 to nothing.
It now goes to the House and then to Governor Healy who is expected to sign the measure.
If the bill becomes law, Mass DOT would implement a new wrong way driver detection system that has been successful in Connecticut.
In addition, more signs, better lighting and increased road markings are included in the new measure.
Lawmakers say the bill is not a panacea. But will go a long way to saving lives.
No word on when the bill will be debated in the House.
