The ex-chairman of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe has been sentenced to 42 months in prison for extortion and 36 concurrent months for tax fraud.
Over the summer, Cedric Cromwell pleaded guilty to failing to report nearly 180-thousand-dollars in income on his tax returns between 2014 and 2017.
Most of the money was tied to the Tribe's casino being built in Taunton.
He was also convicted for extorting money from the casino's architecture and design firm.
A judge also ordered Cromwell to pay nearly 271-thousand-dollars in restitution.
