Former Mashpee Wampanoag Chairman Guilty Of Tax Fraud

Former Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe chairman Cedrick Cromwell has pleaded guilty to a federal wire fraud charge.

Prosecutors say the 60-year-old Cromwell failed to report over 177 thousand dollars in earnings between 2014 and 2017.

The money was related to the First Light Resort and Casino project in East Taunton.

Cromwell will be sentenced in November, and will also receive his sentence for reinstated extortion convictions that were initially overturned on appeal.
