Barnstable County has announced allocations for millions of dollars in American Rescue Plan Act funds.
There is a federal obligation deadline of December 31st for the ARPA funding and the county plans to use the money for housing, water quality and sustainability projects.
Board of Regional Commissioners Chair Sheila Lyons says ensuring that the funds are directed where they will have the greatest impact, will deliver lasting benefits for residents.
The county is allocating more than 40-million-dollars for prioritizing shelter and medical respite for homeless individuals, gap funding for affordable housing, and workforce housing initiatives.
Five-million-dollars will be used for competitive grants supporting local economic recovery and nearly 13-million-dollars will fund regional water quality improvements, emergency management, and public health infrastructure.
