Provincetown Voters Approve Funding For Fire, Police, Capital Improvements

During this week's Annual Town Meeting, Provincetown voters approved a proposal for a 1-point-4-million-dollar public safety operating override.

The funding will be used to cover the costs of hiring four additional full-time firefighters and providing supplemental funding to the Police Department.

Under the plan the Provincetown Fire Department will have 24 full-time positions, allowing for enhanced year-round fire and EMS coverage.

Voters also supported funding for two housing developments at 26 Shank Painter Road and The Barracks along with more than 7-point-5-million-dollars for Capital Improvement Projects.
