The Cape and Islands will benefit from nearly 250-thousand-dollars in state grants to support seven regional wetland restoration projects.
The funding is part of more than two-million-dollars' worth of ecological grants being awarded by the Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game.
The grants range from 150-thousand-dollars for the Mattapoisett Bog Restoration to 62-hundred-dollars to support invasive species management at the site of the Child's River Restoration project.
State Representative Hadley Luddy says wetlands are vital to preserving the unique ecosystem and wildlife habitats on Cape Cod and they play an important role in purifying the local water supply.
