Soil boring work will begin this Thursday and continue until Friday, March 28 in the sound south of Falmouth Heights.
The drilling will take place for up to 12-hours a day, seven days a week.
Officials say the contractor will conduct six soil marine borings using a drill-rig on a jack-up barge, and one boring onshore using a standard drill rig.
The jack-up barge will be seen from the shore and drilling will make noises that can be heard from shore.
The work is needed to collect soil data for the design of an outfall for the discharge of treated wastewater.
