SSA Gets Cash Infusion From Vessel Sale

The Steamship Authority is bringing in some much-needed cash after selling two of its vessels.

The ferry service agreed a few weeks ago to sell the Gay Head to a Harwich construction company for 200-grand and finalized a deal December 20th to sell the Katama for 50-thousand-dollars to an offshore tug firm owned by the same company.

One other company out of Miami submitted bids for both vessels, but each fell short.

The Steamship Authority started using the Gay Head and Katama in the `80s and both combined to sail more than two-million miles for the service.
