There will be a full-scale emergency drill at Cape Cod Gateway Airport today.
The exercise will simulate an aircraft accident to test the airport's emergency response plan and there will be local, state and federal agencies and first responders taking part in the drill.
The public should note that there will be active police, fire and helicopter activity around the airport while the exercise is underway.
The drill is scheduled to take place from 5 p.m until 8 p.m. this evening.
According to a statement from the airport this morning:
"This is a critically important exercise for continually improving our community readiness and public safety, but please note that this is only a drill. The airport is open and all flights will operate as scheduled."
