A Falmouth Police officer is credited with saving an elderly man from falling victim to a Bitcoin scammer.
Officer Sean Lowe was on duty and at the Cumberland Farms when he saw the would-be victim in the process of depositing a substantial amount of cash into a Bitcoin ATM.
Lowe recognized what was happening and intervened, convincing the man that he was falling victim to a scam.
Police say the scammers called the victim and told him that he had been overpaid during a PayPal transaction and needed to return the money.
