Edgartown Police Chief Ready To "Pass The Torch"

Edgartown police Chief Bruce McNamee is planning to retire at the end of September.

The 55-year-old who has served as chief for six years says it's time to pass the torch.

The Vineyard Gazette reports that a search process is expected to find finalists as a successor sometime within the next few weeks.

Town administrator James Hagerty says Chief Bruce McNamee propelled the police department forward and his accomplishments will have a lasting impact.
