Erosion issues may keep Long Nook Beach in Truro closed all summer.
Concerns about the stability of its sand bluffs prompted the closure of the popular beach several weeks ago after town leaders were dissatisfied with the results of the typical process to deal with winter erosion.
The town manager says safety is a top priority as officials don't want a repeat of a major cliff collapse in 1973 that killed an eleven-year-old boy.
The Center for Coastal Studies plans to use drones to create 3-D maps of the Long Nook cliffs in hopes of figuring out a solution.
