Amendment Eliminates Extended Funding For Proposed JBCC Machine Gun Range

An amendment in the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act would not extend funding for the proposed machine gun range at Joint Base Cape Cod.

The measure passed a U.S. House committee last week and if it ends up being approved by the Senate, the current funding would expire on September 30th.

Opponents of the range have expressed concerns about possible contamination of the region's sole-source aquifer

They also say there's no need for the range because one is already being updated at Fort Devens.
