Governor Maura Healey is implementing a partial state hiring freeze to help address lagging revenues.
Details of the hiring freeze on parts of state government are expected to be released today, and it will be taking effect immediately.
Healey's office indicates that the administration is using one of the available tools it has to manage state spending through the end of the fiscal year in June.
Essential positions in health care and public safety will not be affected, and there will be other exemptions as well.
