The Planning Board in Dennis has scheduled to hear the proposal to convert the former South Dennis Healthcare facility into a family transition shelter on May 6th.
The Housing Assistance Corporation is seeking to transform the site on Love Lane into housing for up to 79 families.
This would consolidate its three current shelters in Barnstable, Bourne, and Falmouth, and free these sites up for year-round residents.
Officials say while the proposal may be protected under the Dover Amendment, which allows more favored treatment under local ordinances, certain reasonable regulations should be implemented.
