Barnstable Police say they have once again had to call out the Community Impact Unit to deal with an abandoned homeless encampment. This one was located right near the Hyannis Water System wellhead.
"As you can imagine it was important that we clean this area up as soon as possible due to the potential for contamination. Due to the quick response from our partners at the Barnstable Department of Public Works, we were able to remove several truckloads full of trash and debris from the area and preserve this important local resource," according to a statement.
Officials say they are working diligently to provide alternatives to living in such encampments.
Police report there were no issues.
