Barnstable Town Council members are reacting to the leak of a confidential document, plus an anonymous letter that levels accusations at its leadership.
The document is a draft version that involves business and housing issues, in cooperation with the town's Planning and Development Department.
This was sent to all council members by mail, and charged Council President Felicia Penn and Vice President Craig Tamash have an "elitist" agenda and wish to bar all new development and efforts to address housing matters.
Penn and Tamash denied the allegations. Penn says the document was altered by the sender, and adds that all topics in it are common knowledge.
The letters were sent with a Boston postmark, and the sender's identity has not been determined.
