Cleanup Continues At Joint Base Cape Cod Superfund Site

The cleanup at Joint Base Cape Cod is progressing, according to a Superfund site review.

The five-year progress report by the Environmental Protection Agency updated cleanup and containment issues, which have been ongoing since the Superfund site declaration in 1989.

The report examined the capping of a former landfill, plus the effects PFAS chemicals have had on groundwater in the Ashumet Valley.

Officials say the project has far to go, due to the amount of cleanup from chemicals, jet fuel sites, munitions, and other contaminations.
