Wellfleet is looking to pave the way for the Outer Cape when it comes to bringing phone and internet service to ocean beaches.
A town committee is working on a way to introduce a fiber-optic connection at Maguire Landing at Lecount Hollow as well as White Crest and Cahoon Hollow beaches before next year's summer season.
The panel says having no internet or cell phone service is a public safety issue that can be easily solved without disrupting much of anything.
A 200-thousand-dollar state grant will be helping to pay for the project when it gets off the ground.
