Martha's Vineyard officials are considering a new wildlife mitigation plan.
Concerns over the potential for wildfires have the Land Bank Commission looking at a possible firebreak, which involves the Wapatequa Woods Reservation.
The area in question is in the northern section of the reservation, and is about six to eight feet wide; fire officials in Tisbury want to widen it to twelve feet to create a "soft" firebreak.
The ecological impact is on the minds of some, with regards to the carbon footprint plus the introduction of invasive species.
The commission will make a physical visit to the site to determine suitability.
