Senate Says No To Pilgrim Oversight Panel

The Massachusetts Senate has opted not to fund a bill that would establish a new advisory panel to oversee the decommissioning of the Pilgrim Power Station.

The Enterprise reports State Senator Susan Moran, who introduced the bill earlier this year, said she will continue to push for the commission to be formed and to have full transparency in the power plant decommissioning process.

The founder of the Cape Downwinders, the watchdog group formed to keep an eye on Pilgrim, said it was extremely disappointing not to have the proposal included as they fight power plant owner Holtec on the proposal to dump nuclear wastewater into Cape Cod Bay.
