Town meeting members in Nanctucket have voted down a measure that would have restricted short term rentals of property unless the owner lived on site.
The vote against the proposal was 558 to 378.
Homeowners said that if the measure passed then they would lose a lot of rentals and that means in some cases they would not be able to keep up with payments and taxes.
