Historic Cape Church Sound After Weekend Crash

A historic Cape Cod church was struck by a vehicle this past weekend.

The Enterprise reports a pickup truck crashed into Waquoit Congregational Church in Falmouth on Saturday evening.

Services were not being held at the time.

The force of the impact created a hole in the building and knocked over some pews.

The driver, a 68-year-old man from Falmouth, was taken to Falmouth Hospital.

The reverend of the church, which was built in 1848, says the damage is being assessed, but that the building is structurally sound.
