The cost of the Cape Cod Canal Bridge replacement project is now expected to be three times more expensive than originally estimated.
Estimates are now in the 3-4 billion dollar range.
That’s up from the original $1.6-billion estimate in 2020.
State Transportation Secretary Jamey Tesler says the new estimate can be blamed on inflation and what the inflation rate will be when the project finally starts.
