Proposal To Dump Nuclear Waste Into Cape Cod Bay Paused

Plans to dump potentially radioactive water from the now shut down nuclear power station in Plymouth into Massachusetts waters have been put on hold.

Holtec International, the company hired to decommission Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station has backed off on plans to dump one-million gallons of the radioactive water into Cape Cod Bay next year.

The public will be able to weigh in at next month’s Citizens Advisory panel meeting.

Diane Turco, the Director of environmental advocacy group Cape Down Winders, says that option needs to be taken off the table, adding that there are other disposal options.
