New Wave Monitoring Buoy Installed In Buzzards Bay

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection is installing a new high tech wave monitoring buoy in Buzzards Bay that will monitor tidal conditions.

State Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Katherine Theorides says the buoy will expand Cape Cod’s marine safety network and help ensure safe passage of mariners through the area.

The million dollar device will be installed about four miles south of Cuttyhunk and added to the area’s existing navigational aids; it is being funded by the DEP through state and federal grants.
