As the remnants of tropical storm Elsa move closer to New England, the Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee will be conducting a coordinated response to the storm.
The committee supports the 15 towns on the Cape in the event they need assistance, and says the public should take their own precautions as well.
The County’s Emergency Preparedness Specialist Chip Reilly says to be sure to secure your deck furniture and be prepared for power outages.
Other preparations for the storm include the staging of hundreds of Eversource crews at the Cape Cod Mall in advance of the high winds forecast in the area along with possible power outages.
A company spokesman says they are preparing to quickly and safely restore power in the event of outages.
