NOAA Declares Slow Zone Near Martha's Vineyard

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is declaring a slow zone for vessels southwest of Martha’s Vineyard.

Experts at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution detected endangered right whales in the area last week with the use of acoustic buoys.

The ten knots or less slow zone is to be observed through July 18th, and until July 31st in the Great South Channel.
