One Cape Cod town board is planning to resume the pledge of allegiance after it was dropped several years ago.
The Enterprise reports the chairman of the planning board in Sandwich made the announcement at the end of a meeting last week, the board's first in-person meeting in months.
Jeffrey Picard says other members do not have to participate.
He says the pledge is part of the experience of volunteering to serve on a town board and that he does not view it as a political issue.
