The National Guard has determined that a proposed machine gun range at Joint Base Cape Cod would not have a significant environmental impact.
That ruling won't sit well with local opponents of the project who are particularly concerned about the potential effect on the local water supply and the clear-cutting of trees that would be required.
Further approval is still required from the Massachusetts Environmental Management Commission.
