New Mashpee Wastewater Treatment Plant Moves To Next Step

A proposal to construct a new wastewater treatment plant in Mashpee is on to the next round of approval after town meeting voted in favor Monday night.

The town is hoping the new facility will address longstanding nitrogen pollution problems which drew a lawsuit last year from the Conservation Law Foundation.

The town meeting vote on the issue last night was unanimous.

Voters at a town election this upcoming Saturday will be asked if they want to approve a debt exclusion to pay for the project costing about $50-million.
